2013 Transformations

Happy New Year!! We are  excited to be starting a new year with all our readers, friends and fellow color lovers. It's that time of year when everyone is making resolutions and intending to start the year off on the right foot. Instead of just another years worth of promises to go to the gym more or lose those last 10 pounds or finally write the story that has been kicking around inside your head for ages, why not take a second to be grateful for the rich color and beauty in our lives.

Before the  holiday break we wrote two posts about the  global graying of the city skylines. Glass and steel have become our primary building materials and with them we have built an ever increasingly grey scale world. Today, the first chilly week of a brand new year, we wanted to share an idea about retrofitting. Sure retrofitting doesn't sound like the most exciting of subjects but it is transformative.

We use color to breathe life back into banal forgotten spaces. It cleans away the cobwebs. New Years resolutions, like retrofits, should give us that added spark we need to change our lives and the world around us.  Many think of resolutions as  empty promises sure to dwindle and eventually fade from view but maybe we can make resolutions more like this retrofit. The approach may seem only skin deep at first glance but the introduction of color can  be the catalyst to put  energy and passion into a place. Loving where you work and wanting to go there really does enhance things like productivity and feelings of well-being. Giving new life to older buildings is something we do alot here at Colour Studio and we take pride in the results. We hope you use your New Years resolutions not just a as self improvement project focused on your waistline but as a vehicle for real change.  Think colorful  thoughts and  have a great year!
